Reconnect at the 2023 NPC Washington Summit and Unite in Standing Up for Potatoes on Capitol Hill!
NPC’s annual Washington Summit provides a forum for potato industry members to discuss, define, and advocate for the policy priorities impacting their businesses and protecting their ability to farm.
Throughout the week, participants:
- Hear from the nation’s top political and policy experts
- Welcome NPC’s new officers and grower leaders
- Meet with members of Congress representing potato-growing states and districts
- … and unite as an industry in Standing Up for Potatoes on Capitol Hill!
During the 2023 NPC Washington Summit, attendees will advocate for issues such as keeping potatoes in federal nutrition programs, promoting free and fair-trade agreements, and protecting tax policies that support the long-term health of family-owned farming operations.

Last week, RJ Andrus of Idaho Falls, Idaho, was elected to serve as NPC's President for the next 12 months. RJ is a third-generation farmer and an owner of TBR Farms located in Hamer, Idaho. He has served on the Executive Committee since 2019, in roles including Vice President of Grower Outreach and Industry Research, and, most recently, as Vice President of Legislative Affairs. Please join us in congratulating RJ and the rest of the 2023 NPC Executive Committee!
After taking the gavel as NPC's 2023 President, RJ Andrus of Idaho Falls, Idaho, along with VP of Legislative Affairs Dean Gibson of Paul, Idaho, sat down with Eye on Potatoes podcast host @talkinaglane during NPC's 2023 Washington Summit to talk about the council's proactive policy agenda, working to advance specialty crop interests during Farm Bill negotiations, and the newly released study that revealed the industry's $100.9 billion impact on the U.S. economy.

Thanks to Secretary Tom Vilsack for joining us today to talk with the #potato growers who supply America with nutritious, delicious potatoes and deliver $100.9 billion in activity for the U.S. economy. We also took the opportunity to thank the Secretary for his leadership over two Administrations in helping open the full Mexican market to fresh U.S. potatoes - a victory two decades in the making!
