Commercial control of Colorado potato beetle (CPB) relies on integrated pest management strategies, including chemical control. In recent years, the need for a new mode of action has increased as CPB susceptibility to existing chemistries has decreased. Once registered at the federal and state levels, Zivalgo™ insecticide (isocycloseram) will offer a broad-spectrum, novel mode of action (IRAC Group 30) for use on potatoes. Zivalgo™ will mainly be effective through contact and ingestion. It will be labeled for pests such as the Colorado potato beetle, mites, and potato leafhopper. Features and benefits of Zivalgo, integrated into potato IPM, will be discussed.
